Our Story

Taste the Legacy.

It starts on our land

Karandeniya, in the Galle district of southern Sri Lanka, is one of the country's major cinnamon regions. Its soil and climate suit cinnamon perfectly, and for years it has been a centre of cinnamon growing and trade.

This is where our story begins. For years our family has grown cinnamon and produced true Ceylon cinnamon here, supplying local buyers. It's a legacy we're proud of, and Ceylora is how we now share it with the world.

Why "real" cinnamon matters to us

Most cinnamon sold around the world is actually cassia, a thicker, harsher bark from a different tree. True Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) is something else entirely. It's delicate, layered and naturally sweet, with a soft citrus note, and it's naturally low in coumarin.

We started Ceylora because we were tired of seeing the real thing hidden behind middlemen and mixed in with cheap substitutes. We wanted people everywhere to taste cinnamon the way we know it at home.

Made by hand, not by machine

Every quill begins with a young cinnamon branch. The outer bark is gently scraped away, the thin inner bark is peeled by hand, and the layers are rolled, one inside the other, into long quills. They're then dried slowly in the shade. It takes skill, patience and a steady hand, and it can't be rushed.

What arrives at your door is exactly that. Whole, hand-rolled quills and finely ground powder, with nothing added.

From our family to your kitchen

Ceylora Spices Export (Pvt) Ltd is a small, family-run business. When you order from us, you're not buying from a warehouse. You're buying directly from the people who grow, roll and pack your cinnamon. We pack every order ourselves and ship it from Sri Lanka to customers around the world.

Snap a quill into your tea, simmer it in a curry, stir it into your morning oats or grind it fresh over a warm bake. However you use it, we hope it brings a little of Sri Lanka into your home.

Our promise

  • 100% true Ceylon cinnamon, never cassia.
  • Grown in Sri Lanka and hand-rolled by skilled local hands.
  • Sold direct, from our family to yours.
  • Real people behind every order. Questions? Write to us at hello@ceyloraspices.com and a member of our family will reply.

Thank you for supporting a small family business and the craft of Sri Lankan cinnamon.
